Brisbane is known for its beaches, but there are also other great attractions that you can take advantage of during your date night – if only you know where to look! Seasoned Brisbane locals have compiled a list of 10 underrated places for an awesome date night.
1) GOMA
Catch the sunset over the river at GOMA , the Gallery of Modern Art. Afterwards see one of the exhibitions or enjoy some drinks at The Edge Nightclub .
2) Shrine Of Remembrance
You might not consider visiting a war memorial on a romantic evening out, but this park-like shrine has sunken areas with trees and shrubbery that create secluded spots to chat away from prying. Bring a picnic basket and a bottle of wine and spend a quiet night.
3) Suncorp Stadium
Watch the Broncos play, or go to one of the other games at this iconic stadium – you can even turn up a little tipsy for a cheap ticket!

5) Dendy XV Cinema
Take in an indie movie at Dendy Cinemas on Boundary Street in West End. You’ll forget you’re still in Brisbane with these small-town theatres, great cafés and restaurants nearby. Prefer something more? Check out Metro Arts Theatre , Sun Theatre and the New Globe Theatre.
6) Boggo Road Gaol Historical Tours
Although not strictly a date night activity, Boggo Road is great for adventurous couples looking to spice things up. The prison tours are not recommended for young children, but they’re perfect if you want to get away from the city lights and enjoy a quiet picnic on the grounds of an old gaol. You can even bunk down in one of their themed rooms like the “Shot at Dawn” room or “Top Security”. If that’s too much try Canopy Tour Riverlife , which starts at Kangaroo Point Cliffs near Southbank and takes you high above the river on this zipline adventure! Or try City Woodchoppers and experience all that Brisbane has to offer the mature outdoor sportsperson.
6) Samford Valley
Samford Valley is a charming little village in the hills of Brisbane’s Western Suburbs. Spend the night at one of the cosy bed-and-breakfasts or cafes, then enjoy some quality time with nature by walking around Lake Samsonvale .
7) Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Visit this lovely sanctuary to cuddle up with a koala, grab some dinner from one of their many cafés and spend an evening strolling through the gardens. Make sure you book your entry tickets ahead so you don’t miss out! You can also visit Australia Zoo , home of Steve Irwin, for more wildlife filled fun.
8) South Bank
Spend the day by sampling food from South Bank’s many restaurants and cafés, take in the scenery along the riverfront or visit The Wheel of Brisbane for spectacular views.
9) Rainforest Habitat at The Lone Pine Hotel
For couples that enjoy live music, check out this quaint little venue on Caxton Street. You can also turn it into a date night by booking dinner before the show – their steak is incredible! Or visit Skybar to sip cocktails high above Brisbane City.
10) Gallery Of Modern Art (GoMA)
Check out your local galleries for events throughout the year like art exhibitions or dance nights. Wander through New Farm Park afterwards and make sure you have some cash on hand to buy delicious gourmet treats at the farmers’ markets that are held on the weekends.
